Luke - Highlights & Notes 1 | 2

. . . "How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" (2:49 KJV)
- When Jesus was a child, His parents lost Him and He could not be found anywhere. They eventually found Him in a church, where He replied that it was necessary for Him to be there because He was chosen to do God's work.

. . . "It is written, 'That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'"
(4:4) - I will explain this in more detail in my fasting book.

. . . "Get ye behind me Satan: for it is written, 'Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.'" (4:8)

. . . It is said, 'Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'" (4:12)

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." (4:18-19)

. . . "This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears." (4:21)

. . . " Ye will surely say unto me this proverb: 'Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernum, do also here in thy country.' But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian." (4:23-25) - Jesus explains that no prophet is welcome in his own town (country), and that previous prophets did not heal there. For this, He is thrown out of the synagogue. Jesus said some very radical things and upset a lot of people.

. . . "Hold thy peace, and come out of him." (4:35) - Jesus casts a demon out of a man
